UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Providers for At-Home Care
Expert eye, foot, hearing, and diagnostic care for AARP Medicare Advantage, UHC Dual Complete, and other UnitedHealthcare Medicare members, delivered to your door.
UnitedHealthcare reports that it is the nation’s largest Medicare Advantage carrier, and its plans emphasize benefits Original Medicare does not include, such as dental, vision, and hearing coverage. For many members, though, the real obstacle to using those benefits is not coverage. It is getting to the appointment. Aspire Healthcare Solutions removes that obstacle by bringing specialty care to UnitedHealthcare Medicare members at home. Since 2010, our team of experts has provided mobile optometry, podiatry, audiology, in-home lab collection, PAD testing, and diagnostic screenings for patients in private homes, senior apartments, assisted living communities, and long-term care facilities. Whether your card says AARP Medicare Advantage or UHC Dual Complete, expert care can come to you.

AARP, Dual Complete, and More: UnitedHealthcare Medicare at a Glance
UnitedHealthcare offers several types of Medicare coverage. The names on member ID cards often include:
- AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC: Medicare Advantage plans, offered as HMO-POS and PPO plans, that include Original Medicare coverage plus extra benefits on many plans
- UHC Dual Complete: Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid
- Chronic and Institutional Special Needs Plans: Plans designed for people with certain chronic conditions or people living in institutional settings
- AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans: Insured by UnitedHealthcare and designed to work alongside Original Medicare
- AARP Medicare Rx Plans: Stand-alone Medicare prescription drug plans
UnitedHealthcare notes that members do not need to be AARP members to enroll in its Medicare Advantage or prescription drug plans. Your ID card and plan documents confirm which plan you have.
UnitedHealthcare Medicare At-Home Care FAQs
Is UnitedHealthcare Dual Complete Medicare or Medicaid?
UHC Dual Complete is a Medicare Advantage plan built for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. These Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans, or D-SNPs, provide Medicare coverage while working alongside the member’s Medicaid benefits, and UnitedHealthcare holds both a Medicare contract and a contract with the state Medicaid program for them. Many UHC Dual Complete plans include extra benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing coverage, with details that vary by plan. UnitedHealthcare also offers separate Medicaid plans through its community plans in some states. Your member ID card and plan documents show which plan you have. Because many Dual Complete members find travel difficult, Aspire Healthcare Solutions can bring eye care, foot care, hearing care, and lab collection directly to their homes.
Do I need to be an AARP member to have AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC?
No. UnitedHealthcare states that you do not need to be an AARP member to enroll in its Medicare Advantage or Medicare prescription drug plans. AARP Medicare Advantage plans carry the AARP name through a licensing arrangement, but the plans themselves are insured through UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company or one of its affiliated companies. These plans include all of Original Medicare’s coverage, and many include extra benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing coverage. If you have an AARP Medicare Advantage plan and need specialty care but find it hard to get to appointments, Aspire Healthcare Solutions can bring eye exams, podiatry, hearing care, and lab collection to your home.
Does UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage cover hearing aids?
Many UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans include hearing benefits that can apply to routine hearing exams and hearing aids, which Original Medicare generally does not cover. UnitedHealthcare plan documents indicate that hearing aid benefits are often provided through UnitedHealthcare Hearing, and some plans state that hearing aids purchased outside that program are not covered. Benefit amounts, frequency, and rules vary by plan, so reviewing your Summary of Benefits or calling Member Services is the best way to understand your options. Original Medicare does cover diagnostic hearing and balance exams in certain situations. Aspire Healthcare Solutions offers at-home hearing evaluations and ear wax removal, along with hearing aid fittings, and our team can talk through your needs when you call.
Does UnitedHealthcare Medicare cover podiatry?
UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans cover the podiatry services Original Medicare covers, which include foot exams and treatment for people with diabetes-related nerve damage and medically necessary care for injuries and conditions of the foot and ankle. Routine foot care, such as basic nail trimming for people without a qualifying medical condition, is generally not covered under Original Medicare rules, although some plans offer additional foot care benefits. AARP Medicare Supplement members follow Original Medicare’s coverage rules for podiatry. Your Evidence of Coverage explains what your plan includes and whether a referral or prior authorization is needed. Aspire Healthcare Solutions offers mobile podiatry at home, including diabetic foot care, treatment for foot pain, and orthotics.
Do I need a referral with an AARP Medicare Advantage or UHC Dual Complete plan?
Referral rules depend on your plan type. Many AARP Medicare Advantage and UHC Dual Complete plans are HMO-POS plans, which generally coordinate care through a network of participating providers and may require referrals or prior authorization for certain services. AARP Medicare Advantage PPO plans typically allow members to see specialists without a referral, although out-of-network care usually costs more. Because requirements vary by plan and service, checking your Evidence of Coverage or calling the Member Services number on your ID card before scheduling is the most reliable approach. If a referral is needed, your primary care provider’s office can usually help. Once you are ready, Aspire’s team can schedule an at-home eye exam, podiatry visit, hearing evaluation, or lab collection.
UHC Dual Complete Members: Why At-Home Specialty Care Matters Most
UHC Dual Complete plans serve people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, a group that often manages several chronic conditions at once and faces the biggest challenges getting to appointments. Limited mobility, reliance on others for transportation, and the physical toll of travel make specialist visits especially difficult.
For Dual Complete members, at-home specialty care can close important gaps. Diabetic eye exams that have been postponed can finally happen. Painful foot problems can be treated before they affect walking and balance. Hearing concerns can be evaluated in a quiet, familiar room. Lab work that keeps getting pushed back can be collected without a separate trip. Each visit brings care closer to the person who needs it, without adding strain to their day.

How UnitedHealthcare Medicare Benefits Work With At-Home Specialty Care
Every UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan covers the medically necessary services Original Medicare covers. Under Medicare Part B, that includes a yearly diabetic retinopathy exam for people with diabetes, foot exams and treatment for people with diabetes-related nerve damage, diagnostic hearing and balance exams, and medically necessary lab tests.
Many UnitedHealthcare plans also include extra routine vision, hearing, and dental benefits. UnitedHealthcare plan documents indicate that these extras are often provided through its own networks, such as UnitedHealthcare Vision and UnitedHealthcare Hearing, and some plans state that hearing aids purchased outside UnitedHealthcare Hearing are not covered. Because these rules vary, it is worth reviewing your Summary of Benefits before scheduling routine eyewear or hearing aid services.
Plan type matters too. AARP Medicare Advantage HMO-POS and UHC Dual Complete HMO-POS plans generally use a network of participating providers, with some coverage outside the network in certain situations. PPO plans give members more flexibility to see providers in or out of network, usually at different costs. AARP Medicare Supplement members follow Original Medicare’s rules for covered services.
Aspire Healthcare Solutions is an independent healthcare provider. We do not sell insurance, recommend plans, or handle enrollment. Our focus is bringing expert care to your home.

Who Benefits Most From At-Home Care With UnitedHealthcare
At-home specialty care makes the biggest difference for UnitedHealthcare Medicare members whose care needs are steady but whose ability to travel has changed. That includes UHC Dual Complete members managing multiple chronic conditions, AARP Medicare Advantage members living with diabetes who need regular eye exams, foot care, and lab work, and members who use walkers or wheelchairs or are recovering from a hospital stay. Residents of assisted living communities and long-term care facilities benefit from on-site care that avoids outside transportation, and family caregivers benefit from fewer days spent driving to appointments.
